Información del producto
5-Acetyl-2-pyridinecarboxylic acid (5AP) is a chemical that can be used as a pre-treatment before surgery. It has been shown to relax blood vessels and reduce the constriction of arteries, which may lead to improved blood flow to organs. 5AP has also been shown to have an effect on thoracic vessels. In one study, 5AP was found to be dose dependent with a greater response observed for higher concentrations. Atropine was also found to have a protective effect but only if administered before 5AP. The effects of 5AP are attributed to its ability to react with carbon atoms in the body, forming picolinic acid. Picolinic acid is then converted into picolinic acid monomethyl ester or picolinic acid dimethyl ester, which can act as a prostaglandin receptor agonist at low concentrations and an antagonist at high concentrations.
