It has been shown to have affinity for the serotonin transporter in radioligand binding assays, with an IC50 of 0.8 μM. 2-(2-Methoxyphenyl)-piperazine also acts as an antagonist at the 5-HT1A receptor, with an EC50 of 1.0 μM. This compound has optimal activity at a cycloalkyl group length of 4-6 carbon atoms and is a potent antagonist, with an IC50 of 0.3 μM.
