Hg6-64-1 is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of ferroptosis. Hg6-64-1 inhibits the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo by blocking the activation of ferroptosis, a form of programmed cell death that is induced by mitochondrial dysfunction. Hg6-64-1 has been shown to inhibit the expression of markers associated with tumorigenesis, such as non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and colon cancer. Hg6-64-1 also shows antiangiogenic activity by reducing the uptake of extracellular matrix proteins into endothelial cells.
