Descripción:4-Ethynylbenzamide is a synthetic compound that serves as an antibiotic. It is biosynthesized from the amino acid phenylalanine and the polyacetylene 4-hydroxyphenylacetone. The antibiotic activity of 4-Ethynylbenzamide has been demonstrated against gram-negative pathogens. The antibiotic inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the ribosomal protein S12, preventing its association with the 30S subunit of the ribosome and blocking protein synthesis. 4-Ethynylbenzamide also inhibits cell wall synthesis in gram-positive bacteria by binding to penicillin binding proteins, inhibiting transpeptidation and cell wall biosynthesis.
