It has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on the human leukemia cell line HL-60, as well as inhibiting the growth of several other cancer cell lines. 2-Ethyl-6-methoxyphenol is also known to have antiinflammatory properties, which are believed to be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis and modulate the immune system.
