Benzamide, 3-amino-N-(4-methoxyphenyl)- is a benzamide derivative that binds to and inhibits the activity of Factor Xa. It has been shown to be active in human plasma, with an IC50 of 1.6 μM. Benzamide, 3-amino-N-(4-methoxyphenyl)- has been shown to inhibit thrombin generation in vitro and in vivo, as well as the aggregation of platelets. This compound was also found to reduce the clotting time in human plasma. The inhibition of Factor Xa is thought to be due to hydrogen bonds formed between the amide group on benzamide and Asp101, His148, and Arg151 on Factor Xa; these residues are all part of the active site for hydrolysis by Factor Xa.
