Descripción:Mangafodipir trisodium is a contrast agent that is used in nuclear imaging to diagnose various diseases. Mangafodipir trisodium binds to the DNA, which has been shown to be effective at low doses with human serum. The binding of this drug prevents cell lysis and thereby enhances the amount of time that cells are viable for imaging. Mangafodipir trisodium has also been shown to cause liver lesions at high doses, but does not affect the heart or kidneys. It has been found to be toxic in animal studies and should not be administered if there is any sign of kidney failure.
