Descripción:Hydroxypalmitoyl sphinganine is an organic acid that is a constituent of the skin surface lipids. It has been shown to exhibit antifungal effects in diabetic patients and may be useful for the prevention of radiation-induced dermatitis. Hydroxypalmitoyl sphinganine can also stabilize cosmetic formulations, such as hand cream, against reactive oxygen species. Hydroxypalmitoyl sphinganine is synthetically prepared from hydroxyacetophenone and amines. The reaction product is a white crystalline solid with a melting point of 155°C. This compound has been used as a stabilizer for fatty acids and vitamin D3, which are important for maintaining healthy skin cells.
