4-Chloro-5-iodo-2-methoxy-benzoic acid (4CIOMBA) is a potent anticancer agent that is effective against cancer cells that have lost the ability to synthesize DNA. It inhibits the proteolysis of proteins and endogenous peptides, which may help to prevent cancer. 4CIOMBA has shown anticancer activity in animal models of human cancers, including leukemia, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer and colon cancer. This compound also inhibits the production of e3 ligase enzymes that are involved in protein degradation and inhibit protein synthesis. 4CIOMBA is a potent antiproliferative agent with isoforms that are selective for different types of cancer cells.
