It can be used as a research tool to study various protein interactions, and also as an inhibitor or activator of receptor-ligand interactions. GSK 3395879 has been shown to inhibit the activity of ion channels, such as sodium channels, in neuronal cells. The peptide is a potent inhibitor of the human angiotensin II type 1 receptor with IC50 value of 0.4 nM, and it also binds to the angiotensin II type 2 receptor with IC50 value of 0.6 nM. GSK3395879 also inhibits high-affinity binding to the beta1-adrenergic receptor (IC50 = 3 nM) and alpha2C-adrenergic receptors (IC50=0.7 nM).
