The light emission of this compound was increased in human serum, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of nitric oxide by macrophages.
2-Amino-N-quinolin-8-ylbenzenesulfonamide has also been shown to have a high detection sensitivity for detecting inflammation in patients with congestive heart failure. It is currently being tested as a model protein for polymer films, which could be used for a variety of purposes including the release of drugs.
