3,7-Dithia-1,9-nonanediol is a diol with the chemical formula HOCH2CH2OCH2CH2OH. The molecule has three hydroxyl groups and two alkyl chains. The elution order of 3,7-dithia-1,9-nonanediol in reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography is comparable to that of octadecanoic acid (ODA) and nonadecanoic acid (NDA). It can be detected by spectroscopy in plasma mass spectrometry.
3,7-Dithia-1,9-nonanediol was first synthesized in 1891 by Eduard Baeyer. This compound is a macrocyclic alcohol that can be produced from 1,4 butanediol through electrospray ionization and liquid chromatography. The molecular weight of 3,7-dithia-1,9-nonanediol is 248
