The active form of this compound binds to receptors on neuronal membranes and inhibits nerve impulses, which may lead to an increase in seizure threshold in epileptics. Fenproporex hydrochloride also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its esterification with fatty acids. The detection time for this drug is approximately 2 hours.
