Descripción:Methyl 2-chloro-3-quinolinecarboxylate is a heterocycle that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. This antibiotic has been shown to be active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other bacteria, including those that are resistant to quinolones. Methyl 2-chloro-3-quinolinecarboxylate binds to the enzyme's active site, inhibiting its function and halting DNA synthesis. It also contains a halogen group that may interact with the enzyme's active site, thereby preventing the formation of an enzyme-substrate complex.
