• Descripción: Lithium octanoate is a glycol ester that has been used in analytical chemistry. It has been shown to have beneficial effects on autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. Lithium octanoate is a fatty acid with the chemical formula C8H18O2Li. It can be synthesized by reacting lithium hydroxide with octanoic acid. Lithium octanoate is an absorption enhancer that has been shown to increase the bioavailability of drugs that are poorly absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract, such as caprylic and caproic acids. This property was observed in rats using oral administration of lithium octanoate and caprylic acid. Lithium octanoate also has a high chemical stability due to its low reactivity with oxygen, water, and light. The major disadvantage is its high cost of production and limited supply for commercial use.
