The tautomerization of this molecule was studied by computational methods. The reactivity of 1H-2-Benzothiopyran-4(3H)-one 2,2-dioxide towards nucleophiles was studied experimentally by using reagents such as hydrogen bond donors, hydrogen bond acceptors, oximes and zwitterions. The conformations of the molecule were analyzed with single crystal x-ray diffraction experiments to find out the most stable conformation for each isomer.
