It has been shown to inhibit the expression of inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β, TNF-α and IL-6 in vitro. Skullcapflavone I also showed an apoptotic effect against hematopoietic cells, which may be due to its ability to induce reactive oxygen species production. This compound has been shown to inhibit the signal pathways of chronic bronchitis by inhibiting the expression of inflammatory mediators from the NF-κB pathway. Skullcapflavone I can be used for the treatment of chronic bronchitis in traditional Chinese medicine.
