Anhydrotuberosin is a potent cytotoxic compound derived from the tuberosa plant, Pueraria lobata. It inhibits the growth of cancer cells by scavenging oxygen radicals and has shown potent cytotoxicity against human lung cancer cell line H1299. Anhydrotuberosin has also been found to inhibit tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) production in immune cells and to have antioxidative effects in cultured human erythrocytes. Anhydrotuberosin also exhibits anti-inflammatory activities, which are not related to its antioxidant activity.
