Descripción:(S)-1-Methylpiperidine-2-carboxylic acid is an antibiotic that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to bacterial ribosomes. It has been shown to have antitumor effects in mice and has been found to be effective against Escherichia coli, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. (S)-1-Methylpiperidine-2-carboxylic acid has also shown antibacterial activity in cell culture experiments. This drug binds to the P site of the ribosome, which blocks the binding site for aminoacyl tRNA, preventing protein synthesis.
