4-Bromophenyl trifluoromethanesulphonate (4BrTFP) is an organic compound that is synthesized by a cross-coupling reaction from 4-bromophenyl trifluoroacetate and aryl chloride. The yield of this reaction can be optimized by using chlorides as the electrophile, which are more reactive than iodides. The mechanism of this reaction is not well understood, but it has been shown to proceed through a transfer of the bromine atom from the reactant to the palladium complex. This process can be used to synthesize a wide range of organic compounds with different functional groups. It also proceeds through a bond cleavage and transfer step, which may make it difficult to control the rate of the reaction. Kinetic studies have shown that 4BrTFP reacts with alcohols at a faster rate than with chloride or iodide.
