2,4-Diaminopyrimidine-5-carboxamide is an orally active small molecule that inhibits cancer cell growth. It is selective for kinases and targets those that localize to the nucleus. 2,4-Diaminopyrimidine-5-carboxamide has been shown to inhibit the activity of a number of kinases, including Bcr-Abl, c-KIT, EGFR, and PDGFR. This compound also has high activity against acute toxicity study in mice, cellular models of autoimmune disorders such as lupus and multiple sclerosis. The drug is currently in optimization for cancer therapy.
