3-Bromo-4-formylbenzoic acid is a linker that can be used in the solid phase synthesis of benzothiazoles, benzoxazoles, and benzimidazoles. This compound is traceless and can be recycled by reacting with an alcohol. 3-Bromo-4-formylbenzoic acid has been shown to have high yields for the synthesis of these heterocycles with a low amount of side reactions. This methodology is also combinatorial because it allows for the synthesis of two or more different compounds at once.
