ASB-14 is a novel antimicrobial peptide that inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi by disrupting their cell membranes. It has been shown to be active against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Bacillus subtilis, Candida albicans, and Aspergillus niger. ASB-14 also prevents the production of basic proteins such as albumin and transferrin in liver cells. This peptide is effective for use in biochemical research as it can be used to lyse cells without affecting the integrity of the sample preparation or the activity of enzymes. ASB-14 has been shown to have no effect on titration calorimetry measurements when used at concentrations up to 100 μM.
