Ganomycin I is a metathesis product, which is synthesized by the reaction of cyclopentadiene and ethylene. Ganomycin I has been shown to have potent inhibitory activity against protease enzymes, with IC50 values in the nanomolar range. It also has antimicrobial activities against various bacterial strains and fungi. Ganomycin I was found to be stable under physiological conditions and had good pharmacokinetic properties. Furthermore, Ganomycin I showed no cytotoxic activity in vitro or in vivo.
