Didesethyl chloroquine hydroxyacetamide-d4 is an antiparasitic, antibiotic, and antiviral drug that inhibits the growth of microorganisms by inhibiting protein synthesis. This product is a synthetic analogue of chloroquine and is a potent inhibitor of the RNA polymerase enzyme in the malaria parasite. Didesethyl chloroquine hydroxyacetamide-d4 has been shown to be active against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC), and herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). It also inhibits fungal growth by binding to ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane. The compound binds to DNA and prevents transcription and replication.
