It is used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention in people with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, or kidney disease. 2-Chloroethoxybenzene is soluble in water and has a molecular weight of about 220. It has been shown to be effective when given as a single dose or over time for up to four days. 2-Chloroethoxybenzene should not be taken by pregnant women because it may cause birth defects.
