Ohchinin acetate is an insecticidal agent that is a natural product derived from the bark of the Ohchinskaya tree. It has been shown to kill insects by inhibiting their ability to synthesize proteins. Ohchinin acetate also inhibits the activity of cinnamate methyl esterase, which catalyzes the conversion of cinnamic acid to methyl cinnamate and is responsible for the synthesis of limonoids. Limonoids are plant metabolites with insecticidal properties. In addition, ohchinin acetate contains cysteine, which may have insecticidal effects due to its inhibitory effect on protein synthesis.
