Ethyl (4-Methylphenoxy)acetate is a terpene that can be found in a variety of plants and animals. It has been shown to be mutagenic in bacteria, yeast, fungi, and mammalian cells. In addition, it has been shown to have a number of different cellular effects including cytogenetic changes in mouse bone marrow cells and micronucleus formation in mice. This compound has also been shown to be an acclimation factor for organisms living in harsh environments such as the Antarctic Ocean.
