Descripción:Glutapyrone is a polymeric matrix that is composed of glutamic acid, polyethylene glycol, and polyvinyl alcohol. It is used to treat acute liver failure by reducing the amount of free fatty acids in the blood. Glutapyrone prevents the formation of conjugates with fatty acids and also has antioxidative activity. In rat kidneys, glutapyrone reduces the level of ubiquitin-proteasome system and increases mitochondrial membrane potential. This drug also has respiratory control effects, which may be due to its ability to increase mitochondrial membrane potential and reduce respiratory chain inhibition caused by lipopolysaccharide.
