It is an antifilarial agent that inhibits the growth of filaria and filariidae. This compound has shown efficacy in the treatment of cycloalkyl and piperidino nematodes, as well as in the elimination of malonate from the body. 6-Ethoxy-4-hydroxy-1,5-naphthyridine 3 carboxylic acid is also used to treat family members who have been infected with morpholinos.
