As an analog of fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl is a potent analgesic and is not licensed for use in medicine. It has shown to be more potent than morphine and stronger than heroin. Like heroin, acetyl fentanyl is an opioid receptor agonist and has been used as a substitute for heroin and therefore poses a risk to the public.
