Triptonodiol is a natural product that has been reassigned from the genus Tripterygium to the new genus Triptonodiol. It was isolated from an extract of Tripterygium wilfordii roots in China. Triptonodiol has inhibitory effects on certain viruses and its immunosuppressive properties may be due to inhibition of cytokine production. This natural product also inhibits proliferation of hyperproliferative cells, such as those found in cancerous tumors. Triptonodiol is effective against a wide range of diseases, including asthma, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.
