Triptoquinone B is a diterpene that is obtained from the Tripterygium wilfordii plant. It has significant cytotoxicity against cancer cells and has been shown to be active against many types of cancers in vitro. Triptoquinone B has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis in cancer cells. It also inhibits DNA synthesis by binding to the topoisomerase II enzyme, causing cell death by blocking DNA replication. Triptoquinone B exhibits anticancer activity in vivo when it is injected into mice or rats with sarcomas.
