(R)-tert-Butyl 4-acetyl-2,2-dimethyloxazolidine-3-carboxylate is a nucleophilic compound that is used in organic synthesis. The tert-butyl group in the molecule is responsible for its nucleophilic character. This conformation allows it to react with electrophilic compounds and form an oxazolidinone ring. It can be used as a transition state analog to study the transition states of reactions catalyzed by enzymes such as hydrolases, oxidoreductases, transferases and ligases. (R)-tert-Butyl 4-acetyl-2,2-dimethyloxazolidine-3-carboxylate has been shown to bind to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV in bacterial cells. The crystal structure of this molecule has been determined using XRD and FTIR spectroscopy.
