Descripción

Bz-Gly-Gly-Gly is a prodrug that is metabolized by enzymatic hydrolysis to its active form, hippurylglycylglycine. The prodrug has been shown to have minimal toxicity in mice and humans, and it binds to the target enzyme of infectious diseases (e.g., HIV) with high affinity. Bz-Gly-Gly-Gly has been shown to be effective in vitro against human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV1) and mouse tumor models, as well as in vivo against mouse leukemia cells. The drug has also been shown to be safe at physiological levels in mice.
