This inhibition prevents the synthesis of quinoxalines, which are essential for bacterial resistance to antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin. (R)-Xyl-SDP has been shown to be effective against Enteritidis, S. enteritidis, and Typhimurium in vitro and may be useful for the prevention of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
