It is important in the synthesis of these molecules due to its configurationally, enantioselective, and stable properties. 1-Ethynyl-2-methoxynaphthalene is used as an intermediate in the preparation of drugs such as atorvastatin and lovastatin which are used to lower levels of cholesterol. It also has been used in the synthesis of other drugs, such as bromopride, diflunisal, and phenoxybenzamine. 1-Ethynyl-2-methoxynaphthalene is a relatively new compound that has not yet been studied extensively.
