NAS-181 is a drug that inhibits the voltage-dependent calcium channels. It has been shown to be effective in reducing pain and inflammation from chronic headaches. NAS-181 is a non-selective antagonist of 5-HT1A and 5-HT1B receptors, which are both linked to the transmission of pain signals from the central nervous system. NAS-181 also affects neurotransmission by inhibiting glutamate release in the brain and monoamine neurotransmitters such as dopamine. This drug has been shown to inhibit neuronal activity in the mouse striatum, an area associated with motor control, cognition, and mood regulation.
