2-(4,4,5,5-Tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)-9H-carbazole is a semiconductor with photophysical properties. It can be used in electroluminescence devices and as a fluorescent material for light emitting diodes (LEDs). Substitutions of the 2-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl) group with electron withdrawing groups such as nitro groups or cyano groups increase the efficiency of emission. The fluorescence emission of 2-(4,4,5,5tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2yl)-9H carbazole is sensitive to temperature changes and can be used to study amyloid fibrils. The transition temperature can be tuned by changing the substituents on the boron atom
