10-Phenyldecanoic acid is a fatty acid that belongs to the class of fatty acids. It is synthesized from palmitic acid and has antiviral potency against wild-type strains of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). This compound has been shown to inhibit the replication of HIV in vitro by binding to the viral glycoproteins on the surface of infected cells, thereby preventing them from attaching to CD4 receptors. 10-Phenyldecanoic acid also acts as a neuroprotective agent and inhibits hepatitis by blocking liver cell membrane damage.
