Información del producto
2-(Trimethylsilyl)naphthalene is a functional group that is both nucleophilic and electron-deficient. It reacts with boronic acid to form a 1,2-diol. The reaction mechanism is initiated by the addition of the carbonyl group from the boronic acid to the terminal alkene, forming an enolate. The enolate then attacks the electrophilic carbon in 2-(trimethylsilyl)naphthalene, creating a new carbon-carbon bond. This process can be repeated multiple times to form a chain of diols. 2-(Trimethylsilyl)naphthalene has been used in cross-coupling reactions with boronic acids and acetoxylation reactions to create compounds that are synthetically useful.
