Descripción

Trans-2-octen-1-ol is a fatty acid that belongs to the group of phenylethyl compounds. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by binding to the cell surface, inhibiting cell division and protein synthesis. Trans-2-octen-1-ol may also play a role in the prevention or treatment of atherosclerosis because it inhibits lipid accumulation in kidney cells, which is associated with an increase in cholesterol levels. Trans-2-octen-1-ol is an important precursor for the biosynthesis of many other compounds as well, such as butyric acid and trehalose.
