It can be used as a food additive, or as a medicine to treat hepatitis and high blood pressure. 1-(1-Methylpiperidin-2-yl)propan-2-one also has antihepatotoxic properties and has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of liver cells. 1-(1-Methylpiperidin-2-yl)propan-2-one is an inhibitor of synthase enzymes, which are involved in the production of cholesterol and fatty acids. This inhibition leads to decreased levels of LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and phospholipids.
