• Descripción: Paederosidic acid is a pentacyclic triterpenoid that has been found in the roots of Scandens scandens. It inhibits acetylcholinesterase, thereby increasing the levels of acetylcholine in the brain and providing analgesic effects. Paederosidic acid also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines, such as IL-6 and TNF-α, which are activated by IL-1β. This may be due to its ability to inhibit the activation of NF-κB, an important transcription factor involved in inflammation. The antiinflammatory activity of paederosidic acid is thought to be due to its ability to activate GABA receptors, leading to inhibitory effects on locomotor activity.
