Propanedioic acid, [(dimethylamino)methylene]-, diethyl ester is a synthetic resin that is used as an adhesive sealant. It is a multilayer polymer that consists of alternating ethylene oxide and propanediol monomers. The solvents are removed through distillation, leaving the alkyl ester behind. This process yields a high yield of nearly pure polypropylene glycol. Propanedioic acid, [(dimethylamino)methylene]-, diethyl ester is soluble in water and has a sweet taste. It can be used in the production of polyolefins, such as nylon or polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
