Información del producto
4-Methylbenzyl thiocyanate is a nucleophilic compound that reacts with amines to form substituted anilines. The nucleophilic attack of the thiocyanate ion on the electron-deficient aromatic ring of the benzene molecule yields a stable, covalently bonded product. This reaction is used in organic chemistry as a means of introducing a sulfonyl group into an organic molecule. 4-Methylbenzyl thiocyanate can be synthesized by reacting acetonitrile with fluoride and potassium iodide in ether, followed by addition of benzyl bromide. The yield for this synthesis is 50%.
