Descripción:Undecyl ether is an inhibitor that is used as a cross-linking agent in the preparation of monoclonal antibodies. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human breast cancer cells by binding to the amine group on cell surface proteins and inhibiting protein synthesis. The active substances in undecyl ether are propylphosphonic acid and fatty alcohols. Undecyl ether also has a role in sample preparation, where it can be used as a conditioning agent.
Undecyl ether has optical properties that make it useful for confocal microscopy techniques. When combined with hydrochloric acid, undecyl ether can be used to prepare primary cells for confocal microscopy.
