Trichostatic acid is a synthetic compound that is used in the synthesis of other compounds. Trichostatic acid can be synthesized from the extract of Etoac, which is a plant found in South America. This process involves an amide and allylation reaction followed by a cross-coupling reaction. This compound has shown to have anti-tumor activity in human colon carcinoma cells and leukemia cells, as well as tyrosinase inhibiting properties in mammalian cells. Trichostatic acid also has the ability to inhibit growth of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus.
