Boc-cystamine hydrochloride is a peptidyl derivative of cysteamine, which is a naturally occurring amino acid. It has been used as a repair protein to sensitize cells to DNA-damaging agents. Boc-cystamine hydrochloride can be incorporated into the cell's genetic material and then transferred to other cells through cell division, leading to the synthesis of more repair proteins. This drug has also been shown to increase the uptake of guanine in cancer cells, which may make it an adjuvant for cancer therapy.
