Descripción:4-Chloro-2-(chloromethyl)-3-methylpyridine is a sulfonyl chloride that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other organic compounds. It can be converted to a sulfonyl n-oxide by reacting with aqueous sodium nitrite and hydrochloric acid. This reaction liberates sulfur dioxide gas, which must be scrubbed from the reaction mixture. 4-Chloro-2-(chloromethyl)-3-methylpyridine is also used as an intermediate for the synthesis of various pesticides and pharmaceuticals.
